Ozonated Water Research and Approvals

Lab Testing of Ozonated Water
Sponsored lab test results from BoiE Always Ready devices confirm ozone's ability to destroy bacteria and viruses in as little as 30 seconds. Ozonated water has been scientifically proven to disinfect even at relatively low concentrations with appropriate contact time.

Aqueous Ozone Approvals
The use of aqueous ozone is approved by the EPA, FDA, USDA, is considered GRAS, and is compliant with the EPA Organic Program as a natural and effective cleaner and sanitizer.
Please note that government agencies do not endorse products.

  • The FDA approved Aqueous Ozone as an antimicrobial agent in 2001
  • USDA/National Organic Program (NOP) Ozone Approved
  • Nonfood Compounds Program listed on White List as a no-rinse sanitizer and cleaner
  • GRAS and compliant with the EPA Organic Program

Identifying Aqueous Ozone Concentration
Ozone concentration in water from 0.0 to 1.5 ppm can be confirmed using commercially available ozone test strips. Using an ozone test strip is simple: Gently dip the test strip into the ozonated water for 5 seconds with constant, gentle back and forth motion (10 half strokes). Remove the strip and shake once briskly to remove excess water. Wait 30 seconds then match the strip to the color chart. A minimum concentration of 0.25 ppm is all that is required for disinfection with sufficient contact time. These ozone test strips are available for purchase when ordering.
